Tips in Raising an Obedient Dog

Your dog can humiliate you in front of other people if he will behave improperly. Although dogs are naturally intelligent and adorable, their behavior may get out of hand if they are not properly trained. It is important to know the techniques in raising an obedient dog.

Fighting with other dogs, growling, whining and excessive biting are some of dog's behavior problems that can put you in a great humiliation. To prevent this from happening here are some tips in raising an obedient dog.

Consistency. If you are teaching your dog to do something or you are discouraging him from doing an unacceptable behavior like biting the couch, you must mean it and be consistent to avoid confusing your dog. In raising an obedient dog, you should stay consistent and never give in to his charm no matter how adorable he is. The changes in the tone of your voice and body language will give him the idea what you are telling him. In being firm and consistent, he will eventually learn the rules and will understand acceptable and not acceptable behaviors.

Giving rewards and consequences. In raising an obedient dog, it is important that you recognize and praise the good behavior of your Pet dog. Giving rewards like dog toys or treats to let him know that you are pleased with his obedience is one good training technique. Positive reinforcement is a good thing in raising an obedient dog. On the other hand, it is necessary to give him consequences for not following your instruction or to discourage bad behavior. But of course, you have to be patient and avoid cruel punishments.
